“You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” 2 Corinthians 8:9
Why do we give:
In response to God’s grace: Jesus gave up everything for us and as we follow him, we will want to give our all to him. Christian giving is there motivated by joy and not guilt or obligation.
Using God’s gifts: God has given us all a variety of gifts: financial gifts, spiritual gifts and talents. When we give we are simply using what God has given us to serve him.
To grow God’s church: God is gathering a people to himself through the Lord Jesus. Christians will want to use their resources to love and grow the church.
