Families & Outreach Minister

We are a small, vibrant and growing evangelical church based in an extremely  cosmopolitan and diverse part of London. Our parish is in central West London, bordering  Notting Hill and Paddington. Our congregation represents the full social, economic and  cultural diversity of our local neighbourhood. Our vision is to glorify God by loving Christ,  loving his church and loving his world.

We are seeking to hire somebody to help us with two key areas of growth for us as a  church family:

- Our Children’s and Youth work. Currently, this consists of a Creche and Sunday  school on Sundays, two monthly Friday youth groups (years 5-8 and 9-12) and a  mid-week toddlers’ group, as well as our regular involvement in the local school. We  would want you to prepare materials for our children’s groups, to recruit and train  leaders and to take initiative in developing our programme.

- We are also looking to develop our outreach into the local area. We have a small  door knocking ministry to local residents, and run Christianity Explored courses a  couple of times a year. We would like to take these forward, and think more  creatively about mission in this area.

There will be the opportunity to get involved in other ministries, which might include:  helping to run and grow our evening service; supporting our outreach to local businesses;  leading a Home group and occasional preaching, as well as some administrative tasks.

We are looking for a flexible, loving, proactive individual with a deep love of Christ to join  us in overseeing and developing these key areas of church life.

This is a full time role, though we would consider applicants who wished to work part time.  Our staff team currently consists of the vicar, (Richard Dryer, full time), Ministry Trainee (3  days per week) and administrator (3 days per week). The role is paid at £34,570 per year.  and is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.

For further details, please contact Richard Dryer, Vicar richard.dryer@ststephensw2.org

Administrator

We are a small, vibrant and growing evangelical church based in an extremely cosmopolitan and diverse part of London. Our parish is in central West London, bordering Notting Hill and Paddington. Our congregation represents the full social, economic and cultural diversity of our local neighbourhood. Our vision is to glorify God by loving Christ, loving his church and loving his world.

We are looking for somebody with a vision for enabling ministry, a desire to serve the church family in organising the details of church life, an ability to learn and develop administrative systems, a concern for people and a deep personal love of Christ, to join our small staff team as we move forward together as a church.

This is a part time post, 22 hours per week.

Responsibilities will include:

• Office management – ensuring the smooth running of the church office

• Communications – acting as the church’s first point of contact for many in the community

• Sunday services – supporting the management of our Sunday services

• Finance – supporting the Treasurer in the management of the accounts

• Rentals – managing the tenants who rent rooms in our building during the week and

seeking to find new tenants to ensure good income

• Buildings maintenance – overseeing the regular maintenance of the building

This part time role could be combined with part time study or there may be an opportunity to combine it with a part time ministry role at St Stephen’s. Our staff team also consists of the Vicar, (Richard Dryer, full time), a Ministry Trainee and we are currently looking to recruit a Children’s & Outreach minister. This role pays a minimum of the London Living Wage, with a further uplift available depending on experience.

Sunday attendance at church is not a formal requirement of the role, though we think it would be beneficial and we would warmly welcome the successful applicant into the church family, should they choose to join us.

St Stephen’s Church is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
